What We Will and Will Not Publish

The rules this site is run by, written down so you can hold us to them.

Last reviewed

Independence

No sponsored recipes. No paid placements. No affiliate links inside a method. Nothing on this site is on this site because somebody paid for it to be. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed at the top of the affected page in plain language, and the page will still have to be true.

We are not affiliated with any restaurant chain covered here, we have no commercial relationship with any of them, and none of them have reviewed a word of this. Judgements are editorial and are never presented as paid endorsement.

Authorship

Authorship must be true. A named person appears only after their identity, permission, biography and photograph have been verified. Until then the site uses the food.fast editors organisational byline. It never invents a persona, headshot or credential to create the appearance of expertise.

Automation is disclosed where a reader would reasonably want to know. AI may assist drafting and is used to create editorial illustrations. It may not invent research, testing, sources, quotations, reviews or personal experience. Every generated illustration is labelled and is not evidence that a dish was prepared. Publication remains a page-by-page editorial decision; recipes are not produced by looping over menu items, locations or keywords.

Accuracy and correction

Where a factual claim can be checked, it must be checked before publishing, and where the source matters it must be named on the page. Safety, health and legal claims require an authoritative primary source. A citation does not turn copied or lightly rewritten material into original work; each page must still add a calculation, comparison, practical application, analysis or useful function.

When we get something wrong we change it and change the update date. Material corrections - a quantity, a temperature, a safety point, a factual claim - are noted on the page. We do not quietly edit and backdate.

Safety

Some of the cooking covered here involves hot oil, raw chicken and very hot ovens. Three standing rules:

  1. We will never publish a technique that is unsafe in a domestic kitchen, however closely it would match the original. Pressure-frying in a consumer pressure cooker is the clearest example and it is prohibited on this site.
  2. Cooking temperatures for meat are given as food-safety minimums, measured at the thickest point with a probe, not as preferences.
  3. Deep-frying instructions include the safety steps, every time, even when it makes the recipe longer.

Health and nutrition

Nutrition panels are calculated from our own ingredient lists using standard composition data, and every panel says so. They are not the restaurant's figures and we never present them as such. Where a restaurant publishes a figure for the equivalent item and the comparison is meaningful, we show both and note the difference.

We do not make health claims. A copycat recipe made at home is a burger, not a health food, and the nutrition hub is explicit about the narrow set of things that genuinely change when you cook it yourself.

Trademarks and how we refer to brands

Every chain name, menu item name and logo on this site belongs to its owner. We use them for identification and commentary, which is what nominative use is for. We do not imply endorsement, we do not reproduce brand logos as our own marks, and our recipes are original interpretations rather than the companies' formulas - which is stated on every recipe page and in the footer of every page on the site. The full note is on the trademarks page.

Comments, reviews and ratings

This site does not carry user ratings, and it does not mark up ratings in its structured data. That is deliberate. A star rating that nobody gave is a fabricated signal, and a site that marks up ratings it did not collect is doing something we would not want to explain.

Advertising and tracking

There is no advertising on this site and no third-party tracking. No analytics scripts from other companies, no ad networks, no social pixels, no cookie banner - because there is nothing to consent to. Page views are counted by a Matomo instance we run ourselves, configured to set no cookies, so the numbers never leave our server. The privacy page has the detail.

Links

Outbound links are editorial. We link to something because it is worth reading, and we do not sell links, exchange them, or accept payment for them. Nobody can buy a link on this site at any price, and requests to do so are not answered.
